per article:
“A California public official drunkenly fell asleep behind the wheel of his speeding Tesla early Friday morning — and was so out of it, he didn’t even wake up when cops tried to stop him, according to a report.

Alexander Samek, the chair of the Los Altos Planning Commission, was spotted speeding down Silicon Valley’s Highway 101 in the electric-powered car around 3:30 a.m., according to KGO-TV San Francisco.

When officers with the California State Highway Patrol pulled up next to Samek, they noticed he was dozing off and tried to get him to stop the vehicle.

But the 45-year-old was so sleepy, he didn’t wake up until cops drove in front of him to slow the car, which police say could have been driving with Tesla’s Autopilot feature. The device can reduce a vehicle’s speed on its own to ensure the driver’s safety.”

Although driving drunk is dangerous no matter what, it seems as thought autopilot not only possible saved the life of this man and potential victims, but autopilot automatically slows down to keep distance with a car in front of it. If the car in front stops, then the Tesla will stop. A safe way to bring this potential nightmare to an end.
