Tesla is setting new standards for safety, the NHTSB does not have a level high enough to accurately depict how safe Tesla cars are compared to other vehicles. Tesla’s get 5 star ratings in crash tests and are much safer than other 5 star car brands. All Tesla models have received a five-star rating in the frontal crash, side crash, and rollover categories.

NHTSA tested Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive as part of its New Car Assessment Program, a series of crash tests used to calculate the likelihood of serious bodily injury for front, side and rollover crashes. The agency’s data shows that vehicle occupants are less likely to get seriously hurt in these types of crashes when in a Model 3 than in any other car. NHTSA’s previous tests of Model S and Model X still hold the record for the second and third lowest probabilities of injury, making Tesla vehicles the best ever rated by NHTSA. We expect similar results for other Model 3 variants, including our dual-motor vehicles, when they are rated.
LONGEVITY
How many miles can you get on your gasoline engine? Can it last for 1 million miles! Elon Musk revealed on Twitter that the motor for the Model 3 drive system is designed for ultra high endurance and has been tested for 1 million miles. It was also reported that the Tesla semi truck is using Model 3 drive units which is the ultimate test of any motor.
Musk previously said:
“We are very happy with the quality of the drive unit. We changed the goal of the drive unit endurance from being approximately 200,000 miles to being a million miles – just basically we want drive units that just never wear out. That’s our goal. I think we made really good progress in that direction. the drive unit that are going out now and for the last several months have been excellent.”
